Update On The Florence Nightingale

More news on the next London Circle meeting

Our Croydon correspondents have sent us the following update on the condition and availability of the Florence Nightingale pub for the next two first Thursday meetings in London:

Right, Michael from the Nightingale has just phoned again to say that the refit will be starting on Saturday 28 August and that the pub will reopen on Wednesday 6 October i.e. the September First Thursday will have to be somewhere else but the October First Thursday will be the second day of opening.

This will be the last word from us on the subject, partly because Michael assured us that they have now had the final meeting with the contractors, but mostly because we're planning to leave the country in about nine hours (have we mentioned that we're going to Australia...?)

We'll check with Kevin or Michael about the reopening when we get back in September. In the meantime, if anyone needs to talk to the Nightingale urgently about the refit, the phone number is 0171 928 3027.

The only alternative for 2 September of which we're currently aware is the suggestion in the email version of last month's Ansible that the meeting should relocate to the Jubilee.
