James White Dies

SF author and fan James White has died of a stroke

We very much regret to report the death yesterday of James White, a long-time SF fan and author.

James was the author of the Sector General series and many other SF novels and stories. His good nature and decency showed strongly in all of his work.

He was also the co-editor with Walt Willis of Slant, generally acknowledged as one of the finest fanzines of all time.

Following so soon after the death of Chuck Harris, this is a heavy blow indeed.
