London Fans go with the Flo

Remember to go to the Florence Nightingale for this month's 'London Circle' meeting

This Thursday sees the first 'London Circle' pub meeting in the Florence Nightingale pub. London fans, inured to the overcrowding of recent venues, have been promised a large, dedicated function room for one of the world's largest local SF groups.

The Florence Nightingale is just a little way down the road from the Jubilee, the old venue. Its address is 'Westminster Bridge Road', but it's actually on the roundabout by the south side of Westminster Bridge. Very convenient for any fans who happen to work in Whitehall, like PNN's roving reporter.

Landlord Kev's move to the 'dead nurse' has precipitated the change in venue. There were scenes of mayhem at the end of the January meeting, as Kev ceremonially barred all sf fans from the Jubilee in perpetuity. "You science fiction lot, you're all barred!" he declared. "And I don't want to see any of yer ugly mugs in 'ere again." As the real ale had already run out by this point, we were only too happy to oblige, but Kev has promised that he will continue his policy of having regular guest ales in the Florence Nightingale.

The London Circle has met on the first Thursday of the month regularly for half a century, at various hostelries in the city centre. Meetings have no programme, guests, events or attendance fees, and all fans are welcome to attend.
